You have just finished a season, the CV on your laptop has three new boats on it, and the profile that captains actually see still ends two years ago. You are on a phone, in an airport, and you cannot remember the password.
One email instead of a login
Send your CV as a PDF or Word document, under 5 MB, to [email protected]. It has to come from the email address your Crew HQ account uses, because that is how we know it is you. Anything sent from another address is treated as a new person.
Crew HQ puts that CV on your profile in place of the old one, reads it, and fills in the details that are missing. Whatever you had already written stays as you wrote it. Then you get an email back with a button that signs you in, with no password, so you can check the result and change anything you want to word differently.
There is nothing to install and nothing to remember. If your CV lives in your email already, forward it to yourself and on to [email protected].
What it costs and what is kept
The CV file itself is always saved, every time. Having the details pulled out of it and written into your profile is free the first time you do it; after that it is part of Premium and Professional membership. Premium is £30 a year or £3.50 a month, and also puts you at the top of crew search, lets you store certificates and documents with expiry dates, and adds an image gallery.
If you do not have an account at all, the same address works. Email your CV to [email protected] and Crew HQ builds a free crew profile from it. It stays hidden until you press the button in the email we send back, so nothing is public until you say so.
Why it is worth doing before you need it
Captains and recruiters with Professional Membership search crew, open full profiles and download CVs directly. A profile that stops at your last-but-one boat is the one they read. The same applies to your private Crew HQ Me link and QR code: whoever you send it to sees the profile as it stands and downloads the CV from it, with no login and no membership.
Five minutes on a dock with a phone is enough. Send the file, press the button, check the dates.
How to do it
From the email address on your Crew HQ account, send your CV as a PDF or Word document under 5 MB to [email protected]. Press the sign-in button in the reply and read through your profile.
Then open https://www.crewhq.me/my-profile/share to download the designed PDF CV Crew HQ builds from your profile, choose whether your link hands out that CV or the file you uploaded, and copy the link. Memberships are compared at https://www.crewhq.me/membership.
